TIM E AN D AGAIN
Choose an easy-to
work-with neutral
for the parts of
the bed that you
won’t change
frequently, such
as the headboard
and bed skirt.
SM ALL LUXURIES
Fallen in love with a
pricey fabric? Stay
on budget by using
it for a small pillow.
Or cover the face
of the pillow and
put less expensive
fabric on the back.
LAYERED LOOK
With fabrics that
lean traditional,
vary the pillow size
and mix up the
arrangement to
keep the look fresh.
TU CK ED IN
Give your bed a
tailored look by
tucking in the quilt
only along the foot
of the bed.
Pattern Play
Mixing patterns may seem like a daunting task, but this formula
makes it easier. Start with an inspiration bedspread and use colors from it to choose throw
pillows, sheets, and other accessories. Here, the blues, yellows, and tans from the quilt
determined the other fabric choices. This simple trio of colors plays up the patterns. Pay
attention to the scale of patterns: mix one large-scale pattern, one or two medium, and
one small-scale pattern.
